Bersih steering committee head A Samad Said said today the event – dubbed the Janji Bersih (Clean Promises) gathering – will require participants to don yellow to symbolise their struggle for free and fair elections.
However, Samad stressed, the event is not organised under the name of Bersih because only 26 NGOs out of more than 80 coalition members have endorsed this event. Others groups are expected to join in soon.
The Janji Bersihtheme is an obvious play on the federal government’s Janji Ditepati(Promises Fulfilled) Merdeka Day theme, which has been ridiculed as pro-BN propaganda.

“All these while, we have been hearing ‘promises’ for this coming Merdeka celebration. We know what everyone wants a cleaner and fairer Malaysia in the 55th Merdeka Day celebrations.
“To celebrate the theme Janji Bersih, we call upon all Malaysians of all races from all corners of Malaysia, both young and old, to wear yellow on that very night,” Samad told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur.
Event to kick-off next to fountain
The event will kick off at 10pm, around the fountain located at the northern-most point of Dataran Merdeka, adjacent to the field where the federal government sponsored countdown will take place.

Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia coordinator Badrul Hisham Shaharin, another speaker at the press conference, said the Janji Bersih gathering is to remind the people that Bersih’s eight demands to the government to improve the election process are yet to be fulfilled.
“We encourage those who will join the event to wear yellow because it symbolises the eight demands of Bersih for clean and fair elections.”
“We want to return the people’s rights to celebrate an authentic Merdeka, for independence is all about individual rights as a citizen in this country,” Badrul Hisham added.
Empower executive director Maria Chin Abdullah also said that the organisers need not apply for a police permit, as the event is neither a demonstration nor a protest.
“We are just there with fellow Malaysians to celebrate the Merdeka countdown and we just want to wear yellow.
“Is there anything wrong in that?” asked Maria, dismissing suggestions that the groups were trying to hijack the official Merdeka countdown event.

MALAYSIA DAY’S JANJI TAK DITEPATI RAKYAT DIBOHONGI
http://borneoherald.blogspot.com.au/2012/07/malaysia-days-janji-tak-ditepati-rakyat.html
What a East Malaysian think on the eve of Merdeka
In the past 55 years and more, they have made us poorer still.
After more than 50 years of “Janji tak diTepati, Rakyat selalu diBohongi”, Iet us say goodbye to UMNO BN. Is this coming GE 13 (PRU 13) the end of BN in Sabah? Sabahans must realise that they have replaced the white men imperialist’s colonialism with brown skin UMNOputras.
In the year 1963, people of Sabah and Sarawak were conned or sweet-talked to join Malaysia; and later still, UMNO either branded them as “pendatang” and now classify them into Bumi versus non Bumi. Even if they were classified Bumi, their status are second class Bumi only unlike the peninsular Bumis (Malays mostly) who are more privileged.

WE ARE MISLED INTO GOOD GOVERNANCE WITHIN MALAYSIA WHEN WE SHOULD SEEK GOOD GOVERNANCE OUTSIDE MALAYSIA AS AN INDEPENDENT COUNTRY!

Janji Bersih and Hati Bersih ! Our history has been tainted and this Merdeka has been stained. We must must at all times promise ourselves to struggle for good governance and that the nation can only move forward and progress if our system of government is Bersih.

Clever Bersih! Clever Old Man Poet! The Sasterawan Negara!
Having a Clean and Fair Election is not in the interest of SPR nor the UMNO/BN gomen. Had BN leaders any semblance of integrity and decency Malaysia would have been rid of these BN scums and we’d be well on the way to lead the ASEAN possible renewal, with lots of money to layout all the the potential investments or maybe had worked out a solution to help Myanmar!
Nothing short of a third party International Observers sanctioned by Union would make GE13 a fairly clean election. The skunk Aziz would put Taib’s children or dogs in anytime as he did Muahammad Ali Mahmud!

Janji Bersih is carrying out the right message to BN and its elite-which is tainted with numerous lies, filthy scandals and corruption. Najib, like his mentor Mahathir has yet to fulfill several of his promises. The nation is steering towards a full-blown bankruptcy plagues by mismanagement of the highest order. Education-wise, instead of moving forward and keeping at par with UK, Germany, Australia and other advance nations, the standards there is many many moons behind. Racism is still still being practiced by the apartheid regime overtly, much to the chagrin of the ethnic Chinese and Indians. What about the infrastructure in Sabah and Sarawak, the two ‘supposedly equal partners’ of Malaya ,and the some of the houses there are still in denial of electricity and tap water. JANJI DITEPATI is just another WHOPPER of BN. Najib, please shut up and come open with your confession for all the ‘sins’ you have committed.

Semoga kaum Melayu sedar sebelum terlambat..termasuk lah En. Samad..

Semoga semua rakyat Malaysia, yang diperhambakan dan ditipu oleh BN demi korupsi dan penyelewengan, sedar dan menyokong sistem dua parti. BN hanya boleh sedar jika diberi tugas pembangkang yang setia. Slogan BN: BULAK DAN RASUAH
