The Project IC issue in Sabah was simply a race-centred policy used by Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) to restructure the ethnic set-up in Sabah.
The majority have suddenly found themselves to be marginalised and diluted. It has come to that because BN and its surrogate partners in Sabah want to subjugate the people of Sabah.
Sabahans better wake up – this issue is about the sovereignty of your state.
When Sabah and Sarawak became part of Malaysia, it was promised that Sabah and Sarawak shall not surrender their sovereignty.
That promise has been abused and Sabah has lost its sovereignty.
Sabah is part of Malaysia, so why should it be given sovereignty? Sovereignty is a right owned by an independent nation.
Borneo was an independent nation having separate identity from Malaya then. It can exercise its sovereignty because it was promised so.
Otherwise, the entry of Borneo into Malaysia was just part of the neo-colonialism that so rankled (Indonesia’s) Sukarno when Malaysia was about to emerge.
Only now Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak wants to address the issue.
Even then, as he announced yet another of his laundry list of initiatives, former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad is already hitting out at him. The Royal Commission Inquiry (RCI), Mahathir says, is a waste of time.
He says these illegal immigrants deserve to become Malaysian citizens because they have stayed here long enough and can speak Malay.
Mahathir is admitting that it was he who started the Project IC simply because he wanted to alter the demographics in Sabah.
Sabah poorest state, not Kelantan
His purpose was to ensure Umno and its surrogate allies in Sabah remain in power.
Umno and BN have ruled Sabah for so many years. Yet the state remains at the bottom of the prosperity ladder.
Each year we hear of gargantuan allocations to develop Sabah. But where has the money gone? The money has allegedly gone into the pockets of the Umno and BN elites who constitute probably 5% of the Sabah population.
Sabah is one of the states in Malaysia that has oil, yet it remains one of the poorest.
Mind you, it’s not Kelantan that is the poorest state, it’s Sabah which is under Umno and BN rule.
The rule of thumb then is, whenever Umno and BN rule, the state becomes impoverished. If it is not yet impoverished, it becomes a piggy-bank for Umno and BN and then ends up poor.
So Najib’s terms of reference for the RCI on illegal Sabah immigrants is just a political ruse.
First, the RCI will have six months to do the job. The immediate step is to exclude those who got IC through the project from voting in the 13th general election.
These people shouldn’t be difficult to identify. Under the Najib initiative, there will be no report until about March 2013 and no action a few months after March 2013.
By that time, the election will be over. The inclusion of the over two million illegal immigrants in the electoral roles would have had the desired effect on the electoral results, which is to help BN win illegally in Sabah.

ANY POLITICIANS, from ruling govt or the oppostions the obj is get into power, collect wealth? cronies & their familys? citizens, public left behind for the rest of life? Public pays the price! , if the government is done a good job ONLY if each & every citizens could be able at least fullfill the NEEDS (Keperluan) in economics terms is good enough, if the WANTS (Kehendak) fullfill then i can say the government is done a excellent job.
The country has strong economics resources ! , worth of HUNDREDS BILLIONS of ringgit, where the money? by right this money must go to the public not CRONIES & THEIR FAMILY POCKETS! it is sad that the public is not aware of all the hidden agenda of govt & oppositions, Today around 86% citizens earns below average, hardly fullfill monthly needs! WHAT need another 55 years to soundle RAKYAT’S money !.
The income gap is from hunders to hunderds of thousands of ringgit a month !, The PUBLIC INTEREST is taken away, the CRONIES & THEIR FAMILYS interest is taken in any decision.
NEEDS is basic term in economics for humans, the WANTS is extra wish better luxurious life. In any Government objective the NEEDS & the PUBLIC INTEREST policy in any final decision by govt, not govt CRONIES&FAMILY interest !
Public Interest, NEEDS, & issues & problems faced by public is important agenda to government, if THE PUBLIC INTEREST, WELFARE, NEEDS, ISSUES, & PROBLEMS CAN BE SETTLE, THAN I SAY IT IS ” EXCELLENT JOB.” AN EXCELLENT GOVERNMENT ON EARTH, RIGHT.

All illegal immigrants given instant “citizenship” and Mycards under project IC must surrender their IC and refrain from voting if they wish to qualify for temporary residents while applying legally to be permanent residents. Does UMNO led BN has the political will to do that before GE13? If not, Pakatan Rakyat can guarantee these illegal immigrants who were given Mycards and registered as voters to take care of their application for a 2 to 3 year temporary residence if they surrender their “fake” ICs now

Is race or class or both – the issue? Is it ALL the Chinese in Malaya Sabah and Sarawak who are that busy?
In Sarawak, Sabah and Malaya a small class of people led by UMNO has monopolized and abused their power for 55 years in Malaya and dominated us for 49 years (soon).
UMNO since 1971 thanks to the betrayal of a very tiny group of traitors in the SUPP leadership joined the BN and gave UMNO the 2/3 majority enabling its to change the colonial constitution (now seen as the Malayan constitution which does not apply to Sabah Sarawak). This amendment allowed UMNO to implement the NEP which institutionalized the UMNO Malaya supremacist apartheid discriminatory system we have today.
At first many were fooled by the rhetoric of “positive discrimination” in favour of one race the “bumiputras”
Yes one “race” did benefit greatly from the discrimination in all fields of endeavor- economic, education and so on for a very short time. But then it became an unchallengeable institution totally controlled by one political party UMNO which patronized over a systematic looting of Sabah and Sarawak with its crony State puppet rulers and families.
This begs the question. The NEP was “intended” to bring a fairer distribution of wealth but became the private enrichment bank of UMNO who left the majority of Malays and Sabah Sarawak natives much poorer than before 1963.
In 1963 the poverty levels in Malaya Sabah and Sarawak were more or less level with each other. In 2012 Sabah and Sarawak had dropped to the bottom despite the NEP.
But who grabbed the wealth- Yes UMNO PBB BN and their cronies the tiny minority whether Malay Melanau, Iban, Chinese Indians and others. The mis-leaders used their race based political parties to get into power, misuse their powers and loot the land.
If it is only this minority who are rich then the majority whatever their race must be in the majority classes of the poor followed by the middle class and well off.
If we look at the world blinded folded we only see darkness and have one sided views.

UMNO appears to have less than 40% Malays support. Despite the registration of illegal immigrants as voters UMNO managed to pushed up its popularity to a mere 55%. The Malays are not as stupid as the UMNO warlords wanted them to be and just as much as Taib Mahmud wanted the Dayaks in Sarawak to remain ignorant, uneducated and subservient to his rule.

Pretty worrying the picture as painted in Sabah by this writer. Perhaps the argument could extend to the possibility of the recent UMNO Exodus in the person of Lajim, Bumburing and the latest a Senator, and they all are supporting so-called “State Reform Movement” was aimed towards ensuring UMNO/BN staying in power in Sabah as well. As it had become evident the movement of Borneo Agenda led by Datuk Jeffery Kettingan is receiving widespread support and growing, a spanner is dropped in the works, and that “spanner” is called State Reform Movement also led by Bumburing. The expected result is chaos and confusion in the camp hitherto supporting Jeffery. Likewise by Lajim joining Anwar’s camp, that’s spawned a new problem and rivalry in the rank of PR in Sabah, especially PKR will be finished thereby. And in that confused scenario those illegal voters will help UMNO/BN make a clean sweep comes GE13 while the opposition ranks are so muddled up between to support Jeffry or Bumburing, either of whom is promoting Reform Movement. UMNO with all the corruptly earned money could very well apply this reverse take over physiology: In any event RCI will not have completed its task until after 6 months’ time, if at all. A complex issue as it is require more than 6 months to uncover it all in fact. Goodness knows GE13 must be held by April, 2013 unless Najib wants to try the other route to staying in power i.e. hold no election when Parliament stands prorogue. After all as PM he can always invoke the Agong’s and the Rulers’ consent if only in the name of peace and security. I hope he is not tempted to try this. However either way the prospect for Sabah and for that matter, Sarawak, and their peoples, to remove the shackle imposed by UMNO/BN isn’t easy. Let not kid ourselves. These guys are enjoying it too much the “Ketuhanan Melayu” to want to let it go easily. It is a regime similar to Mubarak, Gadafi, and Sadam Hussien, and those in PLO are no less. My prayer is just that the opposition in Sabah be remaining focussed and united to get rid of UMNO from the State to making it as should be an Independent Nation in Malaysia re: Malaysia Agreement.

Thats part of the total risks facing Malaysia. In consequence, specially in this decade, this is the pits!
Najib or anyone else would be very dumb to do that as there might not be winners considering political and economic aspects. I’d like to think not but fools are born everyday.
Many are more worried about how Malaysia can come to its senses and facilitate a free, fair and just elections.
Najib will go down into history for that. He might want to, to be generous, but might not be allowed to.
Can you make history or does History make you???
But one thing is clear: UMNO has been designed into OBSOLESCENCE ….. looking and hearing whats making louder noises this decade!
