  6. Thanks William and CH for the effort. I guess you guys must be pining for a rest and some solid food and quality time with the family. I hear Reng is meeting a potential writer for our blog to night. How I miss those 3 beers at RM11. Why don’t you guys export those cheap beer to KL, make a fortune, and then we can fire full-time reporters for our blog.

  7. In Batang Ai, two opposing socio-economic factors have come to a boil – the marginalization of the Dayak and Taib’s iron political grip on the state.

This is a test of whether the Dayak can break away from the cunningly crafted web of money, promises, blackmail and threats that has bind them to Taib and kept them powerless for so long.

The psychological impact of a Batang Ai win for PR will send shockwaves throughout the whole state and start an unstoppable momentum for the coming state elections. It is a crack that may shatter the whole pane of glass.

The shockwave may eventually reach Putrajaya and threaten BN’s Federal power by withdrawing BN’s critical ‘fixed deposit’ of parliamentary seats in Sarawak.

PR must pour whatever resources necessary into the battle for Batang Ai. It is not just a by-election, it is a battle for the soul of Sarawak and the future of Malaysia.

  9. Hey geng, quick quiz. When was the last time Taib Mahmud, Alfred Jabu or George Chan visited Lubok Antu before Dublin Unting had a stroke? Voters in Batang Ai see these “VVIPs” when the “VVIPs” want to use us. Now these VVIPs are running scared, because they saw Mohd Khir Toyo fall from power in Selangor with the rise of people power. Now Mohd Khir Toyo and his lovely wife are being investigated for corruption, for taking away money meant for charity and for the people of Selangor.

Voters in Sarawak, let’s realise that the outcome of Batang Ai, and the coming state election, will be a HUGE influences on who becomes the next Prime Minister of Malaysia. UMNO and its servant Taib Mahmud in Sarawak, are desperately clinging on to power by the skin of their teeth. (In fact, some of them are clinging on just using their teeth!)

Let’s choose politicians who can give us real development, not take away our land. We now have the ability to decide who the office holders are, and we have the ability to remove them when there is abuse of power and abuse of Native Customary Rights. People power, Makkal Sakti, Ketuanan Rakyat, welcome to Sarawak!

  10. The symbolic meaning if quite glaring. For the first time in Sarawak, a PKR candidate is accompanied by a Menteri Besar (Chief Minister) to the nomination caentre as wll. It goes to show that BN has no monopoly on the Chief Minister’s office.

It is also nice to see the significant presence of DAP in LA.

    About time too.

  11. Never mind. Just stay focus! No need to tackle Johnny. Focus on finishing off BN
