. Sarawak Report

Cheers to Elia Geneid the niece of Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud and daughter of his favourite sister Raziah Geneid.  Except, of course, any other Muslim girl shown publicly waving a pint of beer or enjoying champagne such a fashion would risk a public lashing these days!

For this reason Sarawak Report, which does not condemn the consumption of alcohol, wonders why Elia and her friends would dare to behave in such a fashion, flaunting their drinking habits for the cameras?  We can only conclude that such behaviour is tolerated by their families, who nevertheless demand that other girls behave in a far more modest fashion or risk punishment and humiliation.

Contrast Elia’s brazen, bare-chested style to the demure dress and behaviour expected of other Muslim women by the men who run the BN government, including her uncle Taib Mahumud.  The story last year of a young model who narrowly escaped a public lashing for drinking a beer in a hotel bar should have been enough to strike fear into thousands of young ladies, but not Elia.  But then members of Taib’s family have been known to make it clear that they consider themselves to be above the law, which is only meant to apply to others and not those who actually make the laws.

We suggest that Taib thinks a bit more carefully about how he allows his family to behave, given the way women like Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarno are treated by his government.  Elia is, as we have  already exposed, the beneficiary of millions and millions of ringgit handed to her by Taib in the form of lands, which he had taken from indigenous people, despite their native customary rights.  Therefore, she is breaking the law in more ways than one.

Alternatively, her new husband might decide to have a word in her ear….. but he still appears so dazzled by his own luck in marrying such wealth he probably has yet to find his tongue in such matters!

Uncle Taib, there are so many more pictures of your feckless family flaunting their bodies, their jewels and their drink, that you preaching purist Muslim behaviour at everyone else is going to start making them very angry indeed.

  1. May be the Islamic laws is not useful on them, the Taib & Rahman family. One reason being all the money sent by the Arab nations to promote Islam in Sarawak state has gone MISSING IN ACTION !!!!!

Let her go ahead what she likes lah? She will not be CANNED because she is………….

Most important is her uncles stop ROBBING us and the state resources

We are not against the girls drinking beer and not fully dresses. They are being normal.

We may be bashful now, but our native girls used to go bare breasted and no one really protested about this as being immodest! It was al naturale!

Nowadays the rich and fashionable may have a bit of botox or silicon here and there to boost the appeal (prime example of a bad job: Najib’s wife).

We are however against the legal and religious double standards the rich ruling elite practice.

It is good the girls are doing things to expose the hypocrisy and double standards. Let us see more!

Who should be caned and canned?

All the corrupt politicians including Taib who should be put in stocks for a start and whipped.

  4. i must be the minority here, but i see no problem with her, or any other Sarawakian lady having a beer or enjoying a champagne, or showing off her crevice. as long as she doesn’t do it on money gained by robbing the people, especially not from the poor and disadvantaged lah… so yeah, thank you Miss for demonstrating that the religious fanatics are hypocrites but please cough up the money you won’t have earned if not for taib being in a position of power. “the misuse of public office for private gain”, that’s corruption.

  5. Sebangan and Sebuyau Iban will lead Sarawakians to protest against Taib Mahmud and demand for all NCR lands and the people’s land (State land) to be returned to the owners and the state and for Taib to step down. Let us all stand up and be counted. We must show our full force against this dictator and mafia.

      • I’m not Iban but I salute the protestors in Sebuyau and Simunjan. And there are more protests to come, with Numpang’s hearing next week after he was arrested for ‘intimidating’ Taib’s sister Roziah’s logging company. Actions speak louder than words. Anak Sarawak, where are your actions?

  6. All the expensive jewelleries, sport cars, dresses, holidays, parties, palace style homes and other extravagance and celebrity indulgence are at the expense of all Sarawakians. It all started with TUN Rahman Yakub and continued by Taib Mahmud, spanning a period of 41 years out of the 47 years of Sarawak independence. Are the Dayaks and the people of Sarawak still keeping silent and doing nothing about the crimes committed by this Melanau family? Are the community and religious leaders still subservient to the corrupted regime of Taib Mahmud? BN YBs can be excused for being Blind, Deaf and Dumb for they are merely protecting their own rice bowls. Should Sarawakian voters be equally Blind, Deaf and Dumb to all the plunders, looting and abuses committed by the thief minister and all his thieves right under their noses?

Sarawakians from all wlaks of life must revolt like the Egyptian people but need not protest in the streets. We just have to vote out all BN candidates regardless if they are our friends, relatives or comrades in BN party. We owe it to our children and we must save Sarawak from the most corrupted regime in history. Taib mahmud must go. UMNO controlled and corrupted BN regime must go.

We must take the que from Egypt and be inspired by the Egyptians and just do what we need to do. Just vote out all BN candidates. Sarawakians should be inspired by the Egyptian people and fear no more of the dictators in Sarawak and at Putrajaya.
