‘Judas’ label: Bian slams BN’s ‘blasphemy’

Sarawak BN leaders are openly scolding their constituents for voting in the opposition last April, and warning them against doing the same in the next GE.

Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders in Sarawak received a rapping from opposition PKR for its condescending manner and insulting digs.

State PKR chairman Baru Bian said BN’s branding of the opposition supporters as ‘Judas’ and waging politics of fear among voters was ‘extremely disturbing’.

Bian was responding to remarks made by Lawas MP Henry Sum Agong, who demanded that his constituents in Lun Bawang and neighbouring Lawas, state their stand on Barisan Nasional.

Sum Agong had reportedly told the Lun Bawang community “not to act as Judas” of BN which had contributed to their wellbeing.

His words drew ire from deeply religious Bian who said: “Branding opposition supporters, as ‘Judas’ is extremely insulting and most unbecoming of an incumbent politician.

“In doing so, he (Sum Agong) has implied that the BN has been like a saviour to the Lun Bawang, in the sense that Jesus was, to the Christians.

“I find that ludicrous, if not blasphemous. If, as he says, the BN government has done so much for the Lun Bawang community, he has not one thing to worry about.”

Word is that Sum Agong has been under tremendous pressure following BN’s loss of its traditional rural stronghold – the Ba’Kelalan constituency – to the opposition in last April’s state election.

Ba’ Kelalan and Lawas was formerly under the Bukit Mas constituency, hence Sum Agong’s heightened concern.

Bian beat BN-partner Sarawak Progressive Democratic party (SPDP) candidate Willie Lau to wrest the seat which had been with BN since 1996.

Rural seats BN’s strength

It was a significant loss for BN because it meant that the opposition had made inroads into the coalition’s ‘fixed deposit’.

PKR also took the rural Krian seat and Batu Lintang in the April 16 state election while DAP went on to wrest 12 out of the 15 seats it contested.  At least three of these seats were fringe seats.

The unprecedented 15 assembly seat victory by the opposition in the state polls rattled the top leadership.

Sarawak BN chief Taib Mahmud has since made it clear that the coalition will retain the state’s fixed deposit seats, including Limbang and Lawas, which are under serious threat from the opposition.

Said Bian: “Our people are sensible and discerning enough to know how much exactly the BN government has actually done for them.

“They should be allowed to choose their next MP freely, without any threats and intimidations from those who have vested interests in holding on to their positions.”

He reminded politicians that they are chosen to serve the rakyat, and that the rakyat do not owe them anything.

His words alluded to a BN senior minister James Masing’s warning to voters “not to challenge their boss (elected representatives)”

“If anything, the BN politicians should be grateful to have been given the chance to hold on to their positions for so long,” Bian said.

He added that he had full “trust in the supremacy and wisdom of the rakyat” and that “God’s will, will be done in Malaysia” come the 13th general elections.

  1. Churches and religions are meant for people preparing their souls for the life hereafter. Politics should not come in. And BN and its leaders who abuse churches and donation to the churches will get the wrath of God. They are blowing the trumpets over the donations. And such donation are not “blessed”. Remember the example given by Christ in the Bible where He said of a poor old lady who gave a penny in alms, that was of all her savings, hers was more blessed than those who sound their trumpets from the rooftops of what they donate to charity. When BN politicians, so common these days, use gpublic monies to donate to the churches and ask the faithfuls to be thankful and hence vote for BN for it, these BN leaders are fools. And worse, if they also get priests and others in the churches to get people to vote for BN on account of those grants.

What a nation we are in now all being brought about by BN is in power for too long and they want to continue it until kingdom come that’s why they invoke the churches for help??. Get rid of these abusers BN in the coming GE13, that’s really for God’s sake!.

  2. There is only one real and genuine Judas. He is Joseph Salang, the Federal Deputy Minister and MP for Julau.

When the Christians in Kuching decided to pray to God at World Council of Churches Centre at mile 3, Kuching to counter the injustice and ridiculous treatments they received from the Muslim Malay Federal government, this useless Joseph Salang made a public statement condemning the Christians.

He also said that the Christians are stupid to pray to God for assistance.

A Christian like this is definitely a Judas by name, and a Judas by action.

All Christians, please don’t vote for Judas Joseph Salang in Julau Parliamentary seat come General Election 13th.

  3. The christian priests and pastors are so subservient and ignorant. “Praise the lord for we had just received RM20,000 grant from the government” says a ignorant priest just before the last state election. Some are asking the YBs if their church will be “rewarded” with datukship for their bishop. Are you reading what I say all christain priests and pastors? I thin you are corrupted too or at least you teach your members to accept corruption as a way of life.

    • agreed. this is because they say that taib mahmud, najib, bn are blessed by God, that is why they last so long. so if they are blessed, then they are faultless and cannot be blamed

those priests themselves have been brainswashed by their seniors to cutty as much favor fron bn as possible. some priests and bishops even told us that because of bn, we have peace and orders, and be grateful that we can pray without disturbance. don’t they know that the police force and the army are paid by taxpayers?

they may call themselves priests and bishops, but to me, they are merely lapdops. call me bad for “judging” them but i have heard priests and bishops asking God to bless the ruling party bn and all of tis component parties

    • christian priests and pastors, most of them are lapdogs to bn.

some even use scare tactics on their congregations saying that “only bn has given us peace and security, no other can do it.”

do tell me, christian priests and pastors, is there a reference to bn or umno in the Bible?

  4. bn knows in sarawak, they can use christianity to order the natives around

after all, every sunday mass, the priests and bishops will pray to God to bless their leaders

so bn can tell the people that “taib and najib is blessed by God, if you go against their policies, you have disobeyed God and will go to hell”

usually the natives, from the illiterate to the highly educated, will vote for bn

after all, the priests gets their salary from the government

  5. SIB members among the orang ulu community will be able to answer that for themselves. If they choose to support any politician, anything and everything corrupted they will be judged for their alliance with a abusive and corrupted regime. The choice is theirs and if they still have a soul left and the conscience they will reject all forms of corruption and plundering by the government of the day.

How To Tell If The Illegitimate UMNO/BN Government Is A Fascist Regime
From a post by Charles Thomas to the New Straight Times Malaysia Facebook Page.

The following is a checklist to determine if one is a Fascist, and the powers that be in Malaysia fits the bill, well almost. It is slowly turning into a Fascist regime. God help us all!

Def ~ Fascism – often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.

Are you a fascist? Many people are fascists and they don’t even realize it. And sometimes, they know it all too well, but hide and deny it. Most of the time though, it’s obvious who the fascists are. For instance, you might be a fascist if…

    1. You are obsessed with national power and pride and believe your country doesn’t have to follow the rules and shouldn’t ever apologize for doing things that are wrong. You think your nation can do whatever it wants.

    2. You believe in the rule of the few, election rigging, political decisions being made by a select group of officials behind closed doors, embrace the informal and unregulated exercise of political power, arbitrary deprivation of civil liberties, and little tolerance for meaningful opposition.

    4. You use the media as a political propaganda machine to target a specific audience and to push your agenda on others. You make sure the media demonizes your opponents and takes your side on nearly every issue. You use your propaganda machine to play on the fears of others.

    6. You are driven to indoctrinate others into your way of thinking. So much so, that you try to re-write history, change the way school children are taught and you brainwash the ignorant. You use your propaganda machine as a tool to achieve this.

    8. You have a deep hatred and fear of communists and you instill your followers with hatred and fear of others by accusing your political opponents of being communists. This gives you an easy scapegoat to blame when things go wrong. Any person or policy you don’t like is branded as communism.

    9. You disrespect women and think their place is in the home. You believe women are weak and cannot do things that men do. You believe that sexual harassment or assault is no big deal and that the only thing women are good for is cooking meals and having babies.

    10. You strongly align yourself with corporations and you support corporate money and influence in government. You despise government regulations that keep corporations honest because you believe everything should be controlled by the free market and that corporations should be allowed to do whatever they please.

    11. You are obsessed with religion. You seek to declare and to impose religious laws on all the people across the country. You believe other religions are inferior and that those who practice them should either be converted or destroyed.

    12. You believe your race is superior and seek to disenfranchise or humiliate other races. You believe in legalized discrimination and fantasize about a return to times when the races were separate or when those of color were enslaved. You use code words in an attempt to hide your racism and you make laws that weaken the influence of those of color. Immigration and voting laws in particular.

This question was first brought up by our distinguished social anthropologist J. Masing when he tried to tick off someone who was question this authority.

Jemut said in his now notorious and arrogant words “Jagan lawan tauke” which really mean “don’t mess with PBB BN the boss of Sarawak”.

Now the PBB BN is again resorting to the same scolding attitude towards their voters to bring them into line.

However, uncle Taib, Jemut, and all the rotten gang in PBB BN, you must realize that the days of dictating to voters are over.

The UMNO propped up PBB BN was never a saviour to anyone in Sarawak least of all the Dayak people.

They have been the land grabbers and destroyers of our country environment and the people’s welfare and well being over the last 48 years of their so-called independence in Malaysia”.

They are part of the group of anti-national traitors who betrayed the country and people to Malayan rule by continuing to defending the fake “independence in Malaysia”.

Lastly they have forgotten that the Sarawak people are their real boss and they have to answer to them for their host of anti-national/people crimes.

The scolding of its ex-members really exposes the fact that PBB BN members and supporters have seen the light and have decided they have had enough and want to get rid of this corrupt lot.

It is a principle of a “democracy” that the electorate are free to chose the candidate of their choice in any “free election”.

So those ex-PBB BN members are only exercising their democratic rights freely in a secret vote.

  8. Brian, show the people who are actually the Judas. Show the people who are the owners of the numerous companies making tons and tons of money at the expense of the Rakyat. Show the people all the Judas within BN who have back stab the people who voted for them last election but now acting like Big Towkey.

  9. This clearly reconfirmed the mindset of these BN-Towkays who shamelessly and arrogantly think that the rakyat and the country are their servants and private enterprise. What more to say !!!
