Stop delay tactics, group tells Taib’s man

Has a Sarawak nationalists group’s guidelines for a debate of the state’s sovereignty given BN-lead party member Idris Buang the jitters?

The 916 Occupation Day (916 OD) group over social media facebook has put Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu supreme council member Idris Buang on notice, urging him not to use “delaying tactics” over the much awaited debate on the 18 points, Malaysia Agreement and a suggestion that Sarawak and Sabah should pull out of Malaysia.

Idris, a lawyer, who had earlier accepted 916 OD’s challenge now appears to be suffering from “cold feet.”

Idris had accepted the challenge despite deputy home minister Wan Junaidi’s warning that politicians must discontinue raising Malaysia Agreement-related issues, calling the act ‘treason and seditious’.

Last week 916 OD group administrator Lina Soo had proposed some considerations to facilitate the debate, including a date for the debate and that it be held Oxford-style or on a Australasia format with Chief Minister Taib Mahmud and all the state assemblymen and MPs in attendance. She had also proposed that the debate be aired live.

But her suggestion appeared to have hit a nerve with Idris’ posting that Soo’s group should bring together the various lamenting groups – Sabah & Sarawak Keluar Malaysia (SSKM), Sarawak Sovereignty Movement (SSM) and The Future of Sabah/Sarawak and the Federation of Malaysia (SSF) – and their administrators namely Doris Jones, Abdul Halim, Morshidi Abdul Rahman and Francis Dorus under one common platform.

“Lina Soo, you must get all those sharing your ‘illicit struggle’ together as one single front in order to face me and my team…otherwise there is no point.

“We want Doris Jones, Morshidi (Abdul Rahman), Abdul Halim and whosoever in all the splinter groups of SSKM, SSM, SSF, yours, et cetera (to come) together once and for all.

“Do you understand? You are just one small group,” he posted.

To which Soo replied that it had Dorus’ consent to debate on his group’s behalf and that Idris could either “accept or decline” the challenge to debate.

“You can accept or decline (the challenge). Don’t set ridiculous conditions…”(Idris should) stop his delaying tactics (and) don’t divert from the issue”.

Soo also took Idris to task for labelling her intention to sue the British government over ….as a ‘well-known joke’.

“(Also) since you challenge me on suing the British government, this is your chance to know (why). Thanks for publicising (this) all Sarawakians will have the right to know,” she said adding that the group had 2,500 followers/members.

Idris had earlier allegedly posted racial insinuations in relation to Soo’s bid saying:

“Why don’t you sue the Sultanate of Brunei too? Or for that matter the Malaysian Government or the Sarawak Government?

“Or even China for letting your forefathers go to this part of the world. It is you who are ridiculous.”

In September, Soo stated that she and a group of Sarawakians were considering suing the British Government for failing to return sovereignty to the state before the formation of Malaysia, 50 years ago.

She claimed newly declassified British colonial documents appear to support the group’s allegations that the British colonial office conspired with Malayan leaders to clandestinely arrange the sovereignty of British Borneo to Malaya.

  1. * Transparency Int’l, ANI, Hindustan Times & WSJ, etc, have all judged M’sia as the Champion of Corruption. The 100 financial scandals exposed since 1983, amounted to hundreds of billions in RM$. 1 billion = 1,000 million. In 2010 alone, M’sia came 2nd globally for illegal outflow of funds, to the tune of RM200 billion. You crunch the numbers: in 55 years of BN & UMNO, how much has disappeared?

    * 20% of the population – BN, UMNO, PBB cronies, relatives, etc, run away with 80% of wealth and resources, when the people rightly own the country, not the politicians.

    * The top in UMNO since Dr MM lack the essential leadership credentials of honesty, integrity, and credibility, only thick skins without a trace moral, humility or remorse. Self-proclaimed champions, lords, kings and queens, in fact the lowest of the low in this democratic world, causing great suffering in the people who voted them.

  2. * Murders & suspected murders: Mongolian aide, Taib’s deceased Aide Boyert in US, Mansor – the Rainforest Activist, Donald Stephens – the late Sabah CM contemplating cessation from federatn, Jalil Ibrahim – BMF’s auditor ’83, Opposition’s Teoh B H. No one has been punished for all these. All swept under the carpet.

    * Taib’s wealth rivals that of Marcos or Mubarak. His crime is 100% condoned by Dr MM & PM. after 32 yrs as CM controlling every aspect of economic activities. Logging, agric, infrastruct, developmt, mining… endless. He appoints all the key state personell & mayors without democratic processes. He ‘owns’ the whole State & bars opposition & NGOs entering the airports. Imagine Britain’s PM and NZ’s PM meddling in logging, timber, mining, infrastruct, oil palm, shipping. in land-grabs, housing developmt.! Would they last 1 month in office? Taib lasted 32 years with many more to go. We all pray for an Act of God. It may be before or after death where there’s permanent fire in thousands of degrees centigrade.

  3. Jaguh kampung type are always like this. Like an ayam bacuh, at its own kampung or home ground, you can see how it berlagak and piercing is the crow. When faced with a real challenge, it becomes bacuh or terrified and starts to kiok or shy away with the back hair standing up. Coward!
