CM tells BN elected reps to deliver promises by year end, prepare for state election

In an indication that the state election could be close, Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satem directs Barisan Nasional (BN) assemblymen to deliver all their promises to the people and resolve local issues by the end of the year.

Barisan Nasional Backbenchers Club (BNBBC) chairman Abdullah Saidol said Adenan feared delay in deliveries and broken promises could tarnish the image of the state BN’s credibility and affect the chances of its candidates in the next state election.

“What the chief minister wants is that if you make some small promises (to the people), don’t allow these promises to drag up to six months.

For instance, if you promise to send fans or rubber mats to the people, you must remember what you promised. Don’t take six months to deliver these items.

“If you (elected representatives) have something in mind relating to state or federal budget, this could be addressed later. Small issues must be addressed immediately,” Abdullah told a press conference after the first meeting between BNBBC and Adenan at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building here yesterday.

The meeting was attended by 22 of the 25 BN state assemblymen.

Abdullah disclosed that the chief minister also stressed on the need to look into issues affecting Youth and Women wings of BN parties.
During the meeting BNBBC members submitted their requests and proposals for their constituencies.

Abdullah added BNBBC also pledged their full support to the chief minister’s stand against the implementation of Hudud law in the state and his request for increased oil royalty from the federal government.

Pantai Damai assemblyman Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi who was also at the press conference said that the chief minister advised all elected representatives visit their constituencies often and make early preparation for the state election.

He added that the chief minister also told the state assemblymen not to delay any longer the appointment of councillors and community leaders to strengthen the government’s delivery to the people.

  1. As early as possible when Selangor’s issue is still hot and oppositions are still sleeping.

  2. Adenan and BN Sarawak cannot afford to hold the next state election after the implentation of GST effective April 1 2015. As usual they will bribe and lie throughout the election campaigns when Sarawak State assembly is likely to be dissolved before the March school holidays.

In Sarawak BN shall never hold state election just before June 1 or December 25 where many Dayaks residing outside of Sarawak or away from their kampungs are likely to come home to celebrate Gawai Dayak or Christmas.
