The news spreading by Whatsapp and other social media is that “JAIS will be coming to Islamize the villagers in Uma Tanjung Village in Long Bawa on Oct 16”.

Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) President, James Masing has confirmed that he has checked with Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department, Daud Abdul Rahman, who assured him that JAIS Sarawak is not involved in a reported attempt to convert Christians in Belaga to Islam.

“Daud said he will keep me posted,” said Masing.

He was commenting on news spreading by Whatsapp and other social media that “JAIS will be coming to Islamize the villagers in Uma Tanjung Village in Long Bawa on Oct 16”.

According to the news item which has gone viral, each convert will get RM 6,000.

“District offices and churches must be mobilized to save Uma Tanjung,” said the item. “This is a very urgent call for prayer.”

Islam, according to the item, is “fast spreading in Upper Belaga”.

The news item, which cited the headman of Uma Tanjung and a missionary sister as the sources, urged recipients to “spread the message to as many people and churches as possible to mobilize them for prayers against this onslaught”.

Daud is responsible for Islamic affairs in the Sarawak Cabinet and has been accused in the past of being in cahoots with Muslim NGOs in Peninsular Malaysia to spread Islam among Christian communities in Sarawak.

There’s no religion in the Sarawak Constitution.

It’s not known why the Sarawak Cabinet must have a Minister responsible for Islamic affairs in a largely Christian state.

  2. Adenan must issue a stern warning to JAIS Sarawak or from Peninsular. The Dayaks must arm with parangs from now on if JAIS come to the longhouses with money to make the poor Christians to innocently submit to Islam because of a mere few thousand ringgit.

No wonder these people are so TAKUT of their own hollow shadows, barking Hollow sound to defend their religion, even the KOLOB in ikantanmamasan said cina kui always bullied malayu, i wont be surprise the next time he would say cina kui fxxk his mamasan….LOL

    • I not only don’t trust JASI but Daud as well. He is a crook!! I have been to longhouses in the upper Rejang where whole longhouses have already beeen converted. Why is there a State Mufti and a Minister in charge of Ismalmic affairs when in the Malaysia Agreement there is to be no state relogion in Sarawak?

  4. Its unbeleivable that masing expect this dude to know whats going on in the interior of sarawak let alone tell him the truth. They are doing these conversion covertly like what they did in sabah. Its the same game plan, dangling carrots for superficial conversion as long as they have the numbers for political domination and survival.they know the dayaks are getting more demanding, more aware of whats malaya is doing and getting more restless about the treatment metted by malaya. Look at the rural schools, they are being flooded with “teachers” from malaya for some reasons and masing must look at their activities outside of their teaching job. No use asking this minister who knows and good only at building lucrative huge religious complex and mosque for
the minority muslims in the state.

Masing and his christian colleagues must now ask that a christian minister be appointed to look after the MAJORITY christians in Sarawak just like them!
