PAS is the one which is causing Sarawak Pakatan Rakyat to break up because of its intention to introduce hudud in the country, said Sarawak DAP chief Chong Chieng Jen.”PAS is deviating too far away from the common agenda of the Pakatan coalition,” he said.”That is the main cause of the problem.”

He was replying to state PAS information chief Abusiraj Almunerwho accused Sarawak DAP of being a burden to the Sarawak Pakatan Rakyat and a tool of the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP).

By threatening to quit Pakatan, Sarawak DAP is undermining the solidarity of Pakatan in the state, Abusiraj said.

Meanwhile, Chong, who is Bandar Kuching MP said that PAS must be “put in check”.

“The man (Abusiraj) does not know what he was talking about. How can we become a tool of SUPP?

“We are actually their (SUPP’s) nemesis, and not their tool,” he said.

Chong reiterated that Sarawak DAP would not cooperate with PAS as long as the Islamic party insisted of introducing hudud in the country.

Last Wednesday Sarawak DAP was absent in the Sarawak Pakatan Rakyat meeting in Kuching, which was attended by representatives from PKR and PAS to discuss allocation of seats.

The meeting was chaired by PAS.

While Sarawak DAP has made threats to quit Pakatan, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng earlier said DAP is ready break away.

Lim said that this is if PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang continues to fail to fulfill commitments by staying away from meetings.

Playing peacemaker, PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim said Hadi’s absence is not a problem and that he will persuade the PAS chief to attend Pakatan’s next leadership meeting.

  1. PAS is a one-trick pony that has never deviated off course from its Islamofascist agenda. It is therefore disingenuous of DAP to make a big drama out of their severing their opportunistic alliance with PAS when they know damn well what the PAS Islamofascist agenda is all about. Perhaps DAP will have better luck demanding that all crocodiles turn vegetarian tomorrow.

  2. Former Umno Baru minister Zainuddin Maidin had accused James Masing being a tool of Pakatan Rakyat and this political novice from PAS Sarawak had called DAP a tool of SUPP. As a bystander, I would say both Zainuddin Maidin of Umno Baru and Abusiraj of PAS Sarawak are both politically bankrupt and irrelevant today.

I am willing to bet my last ringgit that should there be a four corners fights in all urban seats contestd by DAP, PKR, SUPP and UPP an overwhelming urban voters in Sarawak will vote for DAP. It did not matter if PKR put up former DAP representatives or field its only incumbent in Batu Lintang which I dare PKR to a four corners challenge in all urban seats, DAP shall emerge the clear choice of urban voters.

    • And thats because most urban seats are chinese majority seats. Yes Pas is irrelevant to Sarawak politic where the majority Dayaks are mostly Christians. We do not want Pas here with their extreme religious beliefs like the hudud laws. Pkr has a Dayak chief who is impartial and dare to stand up for all Sarawakians. They are more relevant than Pas with its self centred islamic agenda for all.

    • PKR should not be cocky and must know their own structural weaknesses in Sarawak and Sabah. It will be foolish for PKR to twist the arms of DAP to want a lion shares of seats to be contested. In Sarawak, PKR does not have a single credible Malay candidate and many of their aspiring Dayak candidates are opportunists and who had joined politics for self interests. While some had disguised as NGOs fighting for NCR land owners they had also approached timber companies for “donations “.
