Zainuddin-Hamdan_teras_bn_600Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras) will always be pro-Barisan Nasional (BN), even if it is not accepted into the BN fold, reported Borneo Post today.

The party’s vice-president Capt Zainuddin Hamdan was quoted as saying it would remain a true-blue BN-friendly party, as it was before the May 7 state election.

He added that a solidarity dinner would be held in Sibu on August 27 to signify this.

Yesterday, state Chief Minister Adenan Satem said his party – PBB, would give former Teras president William Mawan Ikom, time to decide on his future.

Mawan, who is Pakan assemblyman, resigned before the state election to contest as a direct BN candidate, and is now partyless.

Adenan had recently said that PBB had “in principle”, accepted five partyless assemblypersons – Rosey Yunus (Bekenu), Paulus Palu Gumbang (Batu Danau), Gerawat Gala (Mulu), Miro Simuh (Serembu) and John Ilus (Bukit Semuja) into the party.

According to Zainuddin, Teras had also invited Mawan and the five assemblymen into the party. He expressed confidence that Mawan will be given the honour to lead Teras again.

“We are not going to sit and wait for things to happen but we are making things happen. The rise of the spirit of Teras is coming,” he was quoted saying.

Teras has to date, 26,000 registered members holding Teras membership cards and another 4,000 without cards, from 27 registered divisions all over Sarawak.
