Police have applied for mutual legal assistance from other countries to gather statements from witnesses involved in their investigation on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said, however, that no witnesses have been interviewed yet in the investigation now in its second phase.
“When we want to take statements overseas, we must apply for mutual legal assistance,” he told reporters at the Bukit Aman federal police headquarters here today.
“We have initiated the applications through the Attorney-General as part of phase two of this investigation. The process will require some time.”
