Maria Chin Abdullah said more information about the fifth Bersih rally will be revealed next week. — Picture by Saw Siow FengBersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah confirmed today that the fifth Bersih rally will be held in November.

However, she declined to share the exact date and venue for the event.

“We are definitely having Bersih 5. It’ll be in November.

“We are having press conference on 14th September,” she said to reporters at the Palace of Justice today.

She further declined to reveal additional details, saying only that more information will be revealed next week.

Chin last month confirmed a fifth instalment of the electoral reform group’s street protests, which will aim to press for action over the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) case after the US government filed a lawsuit to seize assets linked to the state investment firm.

The so-called “Red Shirts” movement, led by Umno’s Datuk Jamal Yunos, has threatened to hold a simultaneous rally as a sign of protest to Bersih 2.0’s gathering.

Bersih 4 in August last year was attended by thousands who flooded the streets of Kuala Lumpur for the two-day rally to demand Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to step down.

  1. Be prepared to face the red shirts idiots … postpone the date and change plan, just to find out how good those idiots are with their uncivilised culture

  2. Must have the rally in the rural area to send message to the uninformed kampung folks.
