Children from as early as five years old need to be educated about the dangers of sexual crimes committed by paedophiles.
Sabah Assistant Minister of Resource Development and Information Technology, Hamisa Samat said many sexual crime cases went unreported due to lack of knowledge about sexual harassment against children.
“I believe this can be prevented if children are exposed and taught skills to protect themselves and how to prevent such acts,: she said when launching the Community Human Capital Welfare Organisation, Tawau district, in Tawau last night.
A paedophile case relates to tendency of an adult, either a man or a woman, to have sexual relations with children.
Hamisah said the government must also check the spread of militant activities among university students.
“Students must be told of the dangers of militant groups before going abroad while students in the country must attend a special briefing session.”
