Najib Razak gave an assurance today to co-operate with the US and other international authorities investigating allegations of fund misappropriations from state-owned 1 Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
“We are equally concerned about good governance in Malaysia and the rule of law.
“So within the bounds of good governance and the rule of law, Malaysia will do its best to cooperate and to do whatever is necessary,” he was quoted by international news wire Reuters telling reporters in Berlin when asked about the international investigations.
The prime minister is currently on an official visit there and had earlier met German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The US Department of Justice filed a civil lawsuit in July seeking the forfeiture and recovery of more than US$1 billion in assets linked to what it claimed to be funds stolen from 1MDB.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has said it is cooperating with the US Federal Bureau of Investigation on 1MDB-related investigations, which are limited to the possibility of money laundering by a businessman said to have misled the local state investment fund.
Five other countries are said to be conducting investigations into transactions related to 1MDB, including Singapore and Switzerland.

As a PM and a good Muslim Najib must stop talking through his ass and commission the former AG, Gani Patail, to reopen the probe against 1MDB and lead a new team from BNM, MACC and PDRM to visit the DOJ for more details.
