DAP MP submits motion to compel tabling of 1MDB audit

DAP’s Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming today submitted a motion to Parliament, seeking the tabling of the auditor-general’s report on 1MDB, which is still classified under the Official Secrets Act.

“My motion is so the auditor-general’s report on the 1MDB scandal is tabled and debated in Parliament, so we can find out if the RM28 billion public funds were stolen or not.

“The Malaysian government became global laughing stock when it used the OSA to hide the report,” he said in a statement.

The next Dewan Rakyat sitting starts Oct 17, and today is the deadline for MPs to submit motions and questions.

Nga also submitted a motion to urge for a Royal Commission of Inquiry on 1MDB.

He also submitted motions to compel all cabinet ministers to declare their wealth to Parliament each December and for a review of the National Security Council Act, as per the Council of Rulers’ decree.

“All four motions are on specific matters of public interest and should be prioritised to save the country from destruction.

“I have high hopes that the Dewan Rakyat speaker will allow this motions to be debated and passed during the next parliamentary proceedings in our beloved country’s interest,” he said in a statement.

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report on 1MDB was tabled in Parliament on April 7, but the auditor-general’s report remains sealed.

The audit report was referred to in the PAC report, as a source in the committee’s investigations.

Auditor-general Ambrin Buang, who sealed the audit report, said it is up to the PAC whether it wants to table the audit report to Parliament.

The matter is also before the High Courts, with Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali’s application to challenge the audit report’s classification to be heard on Oct 26.
