Sisters in Islam (SiS) want the police to justify their intimidating tactics in trying to access the Muslim NGO’s office here this evening.
SiS board member Marina Mahathir told reporters that the men in blue were searching for a staff member at their office over a matter related to her previous employment, though details remain sketchy at present.
“Everyone was a bit shaken with how things were conducted,” she said.
Earlier, in a series of tweets, Marina explained that she was rushing to the SiS office after learning of the police trying to get in.
“For some reason the cops are there trying to break down the front door!” she had tweeted, adding that the SiS staff were refusing to let the authorities in.
“We are refusing to open the door till lawyers arrive. Cops are saying we are obstructing justice! JUSTICE???”
Marina, who is the daughter of former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, said there was no reason for the police to act the way they did.
