DAP questioned today if PAS’ statement on wanting to reconcile with other Opposition parties was genuine or if it was aimed at lobbying the Barisan Nasional (BN) government for its Shariah Bill.
“We have to study the statement. We hope nobody is playing games. Is he (Hadi) trying to make a stand to Najib?
“Saying that if he doesn’t push ahead the 355 Bill, he will go back to Pakatan stance,” DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang told reporters during a press conference in Dewan Rakyat today.
Lim added that DAP has always been open to working together with all parties to ensure one-to- one fights in the upcoming general elections, but has always been labelled by PAS as “Satan and the devil”.
“We’ve been described as the Satan and the devil and now we are saints?” he questioned.
PAS Youth chief Nik Muhammad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz meanwhile claimed Hadi’s statement was spun by the media and the Islamist party only had intentions on working with parties not in Pakatan Harapan.
“It was the media that said there will be cooperation with Pakatan, not Hadi. We have no negotiations with DAP at all. It was a media spin,” he told reporters today.
The Pasir Mas MP added that PAS was only open to negotiations with “any party that has not disturbed” the Islamist party’s internal affairs to ensure straight fights.
Hadi yesterday said PAS has always been open to cooperate with other Opposition parties to ensure straight fights against BN in the next general elections.
However, he added a caveat, saying negotiations can happen only if the other parties keep their noses out of PAS’ internal affairs.
