Selangor DAP chairman Tony Pua today reminded Pakatan Harapan to quickly decide on seat allocations and as to whether a straight fight would be possible for all areas.
Pua said all parties must reach an understanding on the matter to move forward, regardless of whether it was a straight or three-cornered fight.
“If an agreement cannot be achieved, then it should be made known earlier so that we can get ready and strengthen ourselves to face elections, whether one to one or three-cornered fights,” he said at the DAP convention earlier today.
Pua said Pakatan Harapan cannot wait until the last minute to decide on the matter, adding that it would affect the coalition’s overall results.
“We cannot wait forever until our fellow comrade, our little brother, Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) that has just celebrated its one year anniversary, to further strengthen the party as it will affect Pakatan Harapan,” he said.
PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang had also recently expressed intentions to cooperate with Pakatan to ensure straight fights against BN in the coming general elections.
He, however, added a caveat that that negotiations can only go on if opposition parties do not interfere in PAS’s internal affairs.
PAS has previously said that it will not be part of any grand Opposition coalition if it includes DAP or Amanah, founded by former PAS rebels.
After the dissolution of Pakatan Rakyat about a year since, PAS had formed its own coalition last August with Parti Ikatan Bangsa Malaysia, formerly known as Gagasan Sejahtera, but said it would still be open to cooperation with Pakatan Harapan parties.
