Man escapes crushing by runaway crane

Filed under: Politics — Hornbill Unleashed @ 9:01 PM

A car owner whose vehicle was being crushed by a runaway crane managed to get out in the nick of time.

This incident happened in Kuala Terengganu on a busy town road near the Sultan Mahmud bridge, and comes after a series of freak incidents involving construction machinery which proved fatal this year.

Just a few days ago, a couple was killed when a piledriver fell on their car in Meru, Klang and in August, a woman was killed when part of a crane fell on her car.

In the video which went viral, a car could be seen being crushed by a gigantic crane which seemed intent on going on its own way. The driver of the car had jumped out before the video started being filmed.

As the people around it started waving away other cars and warning the public, a most brave man jumped onto the crane, into the cockpit and managed to brake it in time. The crane driver apparently had an epileptic seizure and could not not control the crane. He was taken to hospital soon after.

What was amazing was not only that the driver of the car was able to save his life just before a bloody death, but also how the public around the whole incident reacted very quickly to save more lives from being lost.

People could be seen trying to hold up the crane, perhaps not a smart move, but it showed that the people cared and were trying their best to stop it.

The video which was put up fully by Astro Awani showed what quick thinking could do and what people can achieve when they come together in cases like this.

It also shows that there is much to be done by authorities in charge of safety be more vigilant on who operates such heavy machinery.
