The murder trial of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Miri branch secretary and social activist Bill Kayong is expected to be heard by a new judge.
Judge Dr Alwi Abdul Wahab stated today that the case would be heard before another judge after the defense counsels applied for a new judge to hear the case.
Defense counsels Ranbir Singh and Arthur Lee for the first and second accused – Mohamad Fitri Pauzi and Lie Chang Loon, respectively – applied for the change in a letter dated Jan 3 to the Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak.
At press time, there has been no approval from the Chief Justice just yet on the application by the defense counsels.
