This morning, the audience had listened to international Islamic scholar Ismail Musa Menk from Zimbabwe, who is popularly known as Mufti Menk, to speak on issues of faith and its modern-day challenges.

During his lecture on the convention’s theme, Menk had reminded the public on how Muslims should behave and treat their fellow human beings.

“I call upon all of you to rethink about how we are treating the people in our lives especially those we are responsible for.

“Do not wait for Allah’s punishment to come to us because Allah is just,” he said.

Menk said Muslims should always follow the holy book of Quran as the main form of guidance, in addition to never forgetting deeds such as praying and giving thanks to God for the blessings in life.

The two-day event held at the Matrade Convention Centre is a collaboration between publishing house Dakwah Corner Publications, and religious educator Yayasan Ta’lim.

In his lecture, Menk also chastised those who claimed to believe in the existence, and practice of black magic, saying that no human being could see or attest to this as God had not granted them such abilities.

“If you believe in someone saying they can see the unseen, it is an insult to Allah,” he said.

He also stressed on the importance of leadership as well as having loyal followers, likening it to a brick wall with strong foundations.

“Without those who are the bricks on the wall, there would be not the one on the top,” he said.

The Straight Path Convention was first introduced in 2012, bringing in international preachers to deliver the message of Islam.

Other speakers invited this year included Dr Muhammad Salah, Sheikh Abu Usamah, Hassan Akbar, and Sheikh Assim Alhakeem.

Yesterday, Menk had an audience with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak. He will deliver two more lectures during the convention on the rights of Muslims on his fellow adherents, and the final message of Prophet Muhammad.
