Sarawak PKR chief Baru Bian says the two parties do not have much support in the state. — Picture by Saw Siow FengPakatan Harapan Sarawak (PHS) has no intention of inviting two local Opposition parties to join it as the parties do not have much support among Sarawakians, Sarawak PKR said today.

Sarawak PKR chief Baru Bian said the State Reform Party (STAR) and Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS Baru), led by former PKR members, are small parties, noting that all their candidates had lost their deposits in last year’s state elections.

“However, we are prepared to work and cooperate with them to challenge the state Barisan Nasional in the coming general elections, but will not invite them to join us in PHS,” Sarawak PKR chief Baru Bian told Malay Mail Online today.

Baru expressed doubts whether the two parties are able to come up with credible candidates in the general elections.

STAR is led by civil rights activist Lina Soo and PBDS Baru by land rights activist Cobbold John Lusoi, both former members of PKR.

PHS was officially formed on March 19 by the Sarawak chapters of PKR, DAP and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah).

However, STAR and PBDS Baru, the two most active local Opposition parties, were not invited to be members of PHS.

Both Soo and Lusoi said they might consider joining PHS if there were formal invitation from PHS.

Soo said STAR was prepared to ally with any Opposition party in Sarawak, including PKR, DAP and Amanah if it was for the bigger picture.

She had said STAR was waiting for a formal invitation to join PHS.
