PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli has questioned who are the 17 recipients who allegedly received funds linked to SRC International Sdn Bhd, a former subsidiary of 1MDB.
He based this on a document displayed by attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali when he cleared Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak of wrongdoing in January last year.
“Even though there has been various news and investigation with regard to the fund flows involving 1MDB and SRC International Sdn Bhd, there has been no information to date on the 17 recipients who received the funds which originated from the Retirement Fund Incorporated (KWAP).
“Who were those who received these funds? Why did they receive them? Why were they receiving funds from the prime minister?
“Why did Najib take money from a company that had loaned them from the people’s pension funds and paid them to third parties?” Rafizi asked in a statement today.
SRC International had taken close to RM4 billion from a loan from KWAP.
With regard to the SRC International funds, Mohamed Apandi cleared Najib on the grounds that he had no knowledge they went into his personal bank accounts.
“There is no evidence to show the PM gave any approval for the transfer of monies from the account of SRC International into his personal accounts,” the attorney-general had said.
Based on a fund flow chart Apandi showed to the media, at least RM32 million from SRC International went to the prime minister’s personal bank accounts.
The chart further showed that RM23,520,010 was distributed to 17 recipients.
Najib had denied wrongdoing or taking public funds for personal gains.
Rafizi said he will focus on getting answers over this matter.
Last Thursday, the Pandan MP had named former PAS deputy president Nasharudin Mat Isa as a recipient of funds linked to SRC International from the prime minister.
Nasharudin had denied this and threatened to take legal action.
