Many projects not done despite promises, says Krian rep

ALI Biju (PKR-Krian) has expressed concern that there are still many infrastructure and basic amenity projects in his area that have yet to be implemented despite being promised by ministers from the ruling government.

According to him, it is frustrating that the response from the ministries was either “still waiting for allocation or in the planning process”.

“Why approve the projects when the budget is insufficient? The local residents will surely feel cheated if the ‘approved projects’ are not implemented as soon as possible,” he said when debating on the Yang di-Pertua Negeri’s address during the DUN sitting yesterday.

To prove his point, Ali cited several road upgrading projects that had long been announced by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and other ministers since April last year which had not been done.

Therefore, he said, the local people wanted the government to give a reasonable explanation on the status of the road resurfacing of Jalan Ulu Krian starting from Sg Bansu to Awas and Ulu Krian totalling RM15 million; resurfacing of Jalan Kabo-Sg Bangkong totalling RM8 million; upgrading and resurfacing of Jalan Krangan Rusa-Babang and construction of a bridge across Sg Krian in Krangan Rusa; resurfacing of a Jalan Bajau-Kupang and construction of a bridge across Sg Krian totalling RM100 million; and the resurfacing of Jalan Lubok Renit, Temudok, Klua, Sg Antu and Senyawan.

Apart from that, Ali added, the local people also wanted reasonable explanation on the status of the resurfacing of the 13.5km-long Jalan Ulu Awik; upgrading and resurfacing of 11.8km-long Jalan Ulu Paku/Nanga Alum/Pakan; upgrading of Jalan Nanga Drau that connects SK Nanga Drau and two longhouses; resurfacing of Jalan Mudong up to Rumah James Bali in Tapang Ujan; and upgrading of the road to Rumah Henry Sang, Ulu Krian.

Ali also expressed his disappointment with the condition of Rumah Ibi in Nanga Ibus which until now has yet to be connected with any road, be it village road or the Public Works Department (PWD)-grade road.

“The Rumah Ibi folks are still using longboat to go to and fro Roban through Sg Seblak that is famous for its high crocodile population.

“This is the most remote longhouse in the whole Krian constituency.”

He said many requests to the government had been made since 15 years ago.

“I have brought these issues to the House but the response given was always the same – that is awaiting allocation. What is weird is that the earth-breaking ceremony for the construction of road to Nanga Ibus had been conducted a few times before the election, but was stopped after the election.”

Therefore, Ali urged the responsible parties such as the PWD, Saratok District Council, District Office and related agencies to pay special attention and take immediate action on the people’s plight.

On treated water supply, he said although the Kaki Wong Water Treatment Plant was completed two years ago, there were still areas that had yet to enjoy treated water supply – SK Ulu Sebetan and four longhouses along Jalan Ulu Sebetan; SK Mudong and eight longhouses in Jalan Mudong; and 10 longhouses in the Brayang area.

“Therefore, I would like to seek for explanation on the main pipe construction planning status, water tank and booster pumps in the area.

“The minister concerned had stated before that all areas that I have stated will get their clean water supply by the end of 2017.”

  1. After 53 years under UMNO Baru controlled BN government we still see sub standards roads, schools, hospitals and clinics and more than 60 % of rural areas deprived of clean water and electricity. Even our education system and human resources are sub standards.

  2. BN Dayak lawmakers and leaders had been serving their own and family’s interest by allowing the Dayaks especially those who live and surviving in the rural areas to be marginalised, neglected and forgotten. They are shameless creatures although they are called YB. Past leaders like Alfred Jabu, Leo Moggie, Linggi Jugah to name a few had contributed nothing to uplift the living standards of the rural Dayaks.

  3. For as long as the rural voters and the Ketua Kampung are addicted to BRIM, Tong Biru and community grants before each election, the highly corrupted UMNO Baru controlled BN government shall continue to keep the rural folks stupid and deprived of socio economic development.
