He told reporters in Johor Baru that a draft of the proposed Cyber Security Act was passed to the Attorney-General’s Chambers yesterday for further scrutiny.

“The Bill will be tabled by the Prime Minister’s Department in the next Parliament sitting as the NCSA is now under the NSC,” he was quoted saying by The Star on its website.

According to news report from The Star and New Straits Times, the proposed law seeks to empower the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) to be the coordinating agency to deal with cyber crimes.

The NCSA was set up in January last year under the  National Security Council (NSC).

Zahid who is also home minister was also reported saying the government gets roughly 10,000 cybersecurity-related complaints yearly.

“Placing it under one agency will ensure better, more coordinated action against cybersecurity threats in Malaysia,” The Star quoted him saying further.
