bomb-nurse-workingA nurse found a bomb attached to the underside of her car in Kapar early this morning.

The nurse, aged 27, told police that she heard continuous beeping sounds while driving at about 10pm last night.

Upon reaching home, she told her uncle to check the car and he discovered an unidentified object attached to the car’s rear bumper, reported the New Straits Times today.

A team from the police’s Bomb Disposal Unit was despatched to the woman’s house after they received information on the find.

Selangor police CID chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat said the team confirmed that it was an improvised explosive device (IED) after conducting a thorough inspection of the object, which had been removed from the vehicle by the woman’s uncle.

“Bomb experts who checked the object, which was about the size of a small mineral water bottle, confirmed that it had features of an IED, including a switch and explosive,” Fadzil said.

He added that the object was destroyed at about 2.30am.

Fadzil said according to the nurse’s statement, she was driving home after finishing her shift when she heard beeping sounds.

“Upon arriving at her house, she and her uncle started searching for the source of the sound before finding the object,” he said.

Fadzil said police were investigating who had assembled the bomb and planted it on the car, as well as the motive behind the incident.

He said the case had been classified under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and the Explosives Act 1957.
