Sarawak for Sarawakians (S4S) Sibu and Pertubuhan Anak Dayak Sarawak (Peranak) will jointly organise a ‘Sarawak Self Government Day’ rally at Sibu Gateway at 8am on July 22.

Organising chairman Jarau Ajan said those wanting to join the event were encouraged to come in Sarawak ethnic traditional gear in a show of pride for their culture and traditions.

“We have obtained approval from the police to organise the gathering and also from the local authority to use Sibu Gateway as the venue of the event.

“This will be the second such event after the previous one was held last year in Kuching which attracted about 500 participants,” he told a press conference here on Sunday.

Jarau said the activities planned included singing the state anthem ‘Ibu Pertiwiku’ and ‘Fair Land Sarawak’, and speeches by Sarawak Independence Alliance (SIA) representative Fong Pau Teck, ex-magistrate Henry Joseph, Thomas Lobo, Spencer Musa Dandy, Professor Hasmadi Mois, and Hugh Lawrence from Sarawak Association of People’s Aspiration (Sapa).

There also will be a video presentation, pledge of loyalty to Sarawak and ‘miring’ ritual, he added.

Also present at the press conference were purported promoter of S4S Yew Bang Keng, vice-organising chairman Thomas Jagan, and secretary Mohd Firdaus Abdullah.
