Will Dr Sim be able to fulfill all planned projects, PKR man asks

Image result for Jeffrey Mok pkrPKR Stampin branch youth deputy chairman Jeffery Mok is skeptical that Batu Kawah assemblyman Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian will be able to deliver all the development projects lined up for the area during his tenure.

Mok was referring to Dr Sim’s recent statement advising land owners in the constituency not to sell their land as it would be more valuable in view of the development projects lined up for the area.

He said among the projects planned for Batu Kawah were Batu Kawah Lagoon, Riverbank Park, police station, fire station, 1Malaysia Clinic and affordable houses that are highly anticipated and welcomed by the people of Batu Kawah.

“It would be a bonus if all of the above proposed developments can be realised in the future. The question here is how long would it take for work on any of the above development projects to complete?

“Talk is cheap. For example, where is the masterplan for Batu Kawah Lagoon? Dr Sim should not simply tell the public that everything will commence shortly when time is of the essence.

“Or, is he going to promise the same things again in the next state election,” Mok told a press conference here yesterday.

Mok reminded Dr Sim on a case in Sungai Moyan which he had personally gone to the ground to conduct site inspection with the local residents.

“In Sungai Moyan, the illegal land filling has caused flooding on the road because the land filling activity is blocking the natural stream. Also, it causes soil erosion that damages the road.”

Mok cited a statement on the Sungai Moyan case by Dr Sim published on Oct 8, last year, where he had directed the Land and Survey Department to take action against the party involved in illegal land filling and blocking of natural stream, Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) to give technical advice on how to divert the river while Public Works Department (PWD) would make sure the road is not eroded by water and to prevent erosion.

“However, until today after more than six months, no legal action has been taken against any party involved in illegal land filling and blocking of natural stream even when there are ample proofs showing such illegal activities have been going on and Dr Sim has personal knowledge of it.”

He said the road in Sungai Moyan was so badly eroded by the water to the extent that half of the road had been badly damaged by such illegal activities and PWD had to step in to repair the road more than twice using the tax payers’ money.

“Until today, the illegal land filling activity is still being done. When is Dr Sim going to take action or sue the landowners?

“The inaction by Dr Sim has left the public to wonder whether it’s merely a ‘political stunt’ by him (Dr Sim) when he led representatives from eight different government agencies using a fancy school bus to visit places in Batu Kawah to resolve long existing problems in those areas.”

Mok therefore advised Dr Sim not to be so boastful but to get on his feet to resolve the matters that are under his eyes.
