“As you know we don’t know when the election will be held, but we have to form the joint committees early, including one on the manifesto focusing on Sarawak only,” he told reporters after chairing the state Barisan Nasional supreme council meeting here.

He said the Sarawak election manifesto is in addition to the main manifesto prepared by the federal Barisan Nasional.

Abang Johari said the state Barisan Nasional is upbeat about GE14, saying that it is in a very good position to win almost all the 31 parliamentary seats at stake in Sarawak.

He said the state Barisan Nasional’s record of delivering development in Sarawak is for all to see, adding, however, that it still has to strategise what it plans to do to make Sarawak a developed state by 2030.

On the conflict over seat allocations between Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) and its breakaway United People’s Party (UPP), Abang Johari said discussions with the two parties have already started.

“But it is better that I don’t tell (the media) what has been discussed and achieved at the moment,” he said.

He said the discussions started after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak asked him last year to resolve the conflict between SUPP and pro-Barisan Nasional UPP.

The chief minister expressed confidence that the SUPP-UPP conflict will be resolved by GE14.

SUPP is led by Local Government and Housing Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian while UPP is presided over by International Trade and e-Commerce Minister Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh.

  1. Sarawak BN has betrayed the trust of rural voters in particular and Sarawakians in general by supporting and endorsing Najib to lead the country as the next PM and allowing PAS to dictate its Islamic agenda through Umno Baru. Malaysia has plunged into darkness under the kleptocracy of the most corrupted PM who has compromsed BN power sharing base by working with Taliban style PAS to ensure Najib and Umno Baru survive in GE14. Sarawakians especially the Dayaks must reject Umno Baru/ Pas controlled Sarawak BN..
