He gave the indication when addressing 1,200 imams and village chiefs who had been offered to undertake the pilgrimage sponsored by the 1Malaysia Development Bhd Foundation, at the Putra Mosque here.

“You are scheduled to leave (for the Haj) on July 14, after Aidilfitri and another ‘Hari Raya’ (Big Day), meaning that you will leave for the Holy Land after the two ‘big days’, he said, apparently referring to the 14th general election as the second ‘big day’.

Najib said this would enable the pilgrims to undertake the Haj in an atmosphere of calm after having fulfilled their responsibility of having elected the government.

“So, when you are there (in the Holy Land), pray for the success and prosperity of the country in order to make Malaysia a model among Islamic nations,” he said.

The current term of Parliament expires on June 24 and the 14th general election must be held within 60 days after that date.

  2. When Imams saw nothing wrong in going to Haj using tainted and corrupted money from 1MDB what would the ordinary and God fearing Muslims feel?

  3. Najib should also advise Muslims going to haj to pray that all corrupted ministers shall be arrested and investigated for power abuse, CBT and plundering the nation’s wealth. Will that not make him sound like a clean leader who truly care about the nation and all Malaysians?
