Dr M upset, claims GE14 won’t be fair

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad attends Pakatan Harapan’s National Business and Economic Forum in Petaling Jaya April 5, 2018. — Picture by Zuraneeza ZulkifliParti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad claimed that the 14th general election would not be fair, after his party was temporarily suspended today.

“There are no fair elections… forget about ‘bersih’,” Dr Mahathir told the audience at Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) National Business and Economic Forum at Dewan Sivik MBPJ here today, using the Malay word for “clean”.

The PH chairman also appeared upset when asked by the media to comment on the Registrar of Societies’ (RoS) decision.

“I will be having a press conference tonight… see you tonight,” he told reporters after the forum.

Dr Mahathir expressed his disappointment over the temporary dissolution of PPBM and said the decision reflected the unfair electoral practices in the country.

He said there was little hope to have a clean election, accusing Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak of trying to win the nationwide polls at any cost.

“RoS declared my party as illegal, which means I am not allowed to identify myself with the illegal party.

“They linked us with the Pakatan Harapan coalition, which now cannot be approved because amongst its members there is an illegal party,” he said before a crowd of 100 attendees at the forum.

Earlier today, the RoS temporarily disbanded PPBM for failure to furnish requested paperwork.

Under the suspension order, PPBM may not conduct any activities or use its logo, essentially ruling out its direct participation in the general election.

The party has 30 days from the issuance of the order to provide the necessary information and documentation to cancel the temporary suspension.

PH would also not be able to proceed with its registration, as PPBM was one of its component parties.

  1. most malaysians working in singapore are chinese n indians. they brave traffic jams, smogs from motorcycles along the causeway, they wake up in the wee hours and return late. no family time, missed their kids growing up and more. i am sure they can also witness the difference in the two countries’ differences in living standards and the standard of politicians. clearly why would they need to do all these day in day out if the country is properly governed. its clear who these people will vote. thats why our dear DPM say…never mind no need to vote.

  2. Cabbies, fisherman, farmers, labourers, blue collar workers all need aids because cost of living are not affordable any longer. They don’t need bantuan during election. They need bantuan every month. BN cheap stunt is only pain killer but not anti-biotic. The bantuan splash everywhere is short term gain and long term pain. It does NOT solve Rakyat woes. It just proves Rakyat woes.

  3. What I want to see in a new government is to decouple religions from politics. Leave religions to those who professed them. Once politics is involved with a religion, politicians will use it to make themselves little gods and the rest of us are expected to worship them.

  7. 1) Change the old ship; it is already near 60 years old. Need new engine and engine parts; decommission it.
    2) Change the skipper; confident in the skipper is no long there; need new direction and strategies.
    3) Change the crew; new crew with new skills and updated directions needed.

  8. We cannot and should not dwell on the past and none of us can afford to let personal grievances be the final determinant of choice of govt. The future of an entire Nation and future generations depend on us making the right choice. To choose BN which is led by an alleged kleptocrat is irresponsible selfish and a choice that is nothing short of consigning the future into the dustbin. I hope voters dont fall for the short term cash benefits being doled out by BN in exchange for a future where our cost of living balloons and people driven apart by extremism from within UMNO.

  9. BRIM Cash Handouts are like giving fishes to the lower income rakyat instead of giving fishing rods to teach those lower income rakyat to fish for educational knowledge and technical skills with good and viable educational, social-economic policies such as attracting more advanced technological foreign direct investmests like Silicon Valley in California and creating cometative corruption-free international financial centers like Singapore to create more productive and competitive job opportinities in this Fourth Industrial Revolution instead of gutter politics of lying, cheating and stealing of public funds and smearing and harrassing of political oponents to cover their corrupt practices and criminal activities behind their illegitimate UMNO hegemon power.

  10. Our country is ailing and need healing. Do we have the political will for change is up to us the voters on polling day. But then again the power of persuasion is still in which side has the most money to influence the voters mental state during the election day. A mere piece of rm50 besides the packed chicken rice meals would determine who gets to rule?

  11. Malaysians must punish Najib and Umno Baru controlled BN by ensuring more than 80% voters turnout. We must ensure no more idiots scumbag are appointed to head EC, ROS, PDRM, MACC, AGC and Judicial. Malaysians must ensure all these thieves, pirates and corrupted head of departments and institutions are put to jail. We must vote out all Umno Baru controlled BN candidates.

  21. Surely Rafidah and Rais still possess some clout within UMNO, can they not raise the same questions to call for an immediate EGM of UMNO to question the current leadership leading UMNO astray, so much so that every law, every deprivation ordered and every statement made is actually relegating UMNO to a certain obliviou death. The current UMNO leaders are truly and naively taking the rakyat for granted, they will wake up and rebel soon enough if all these shenanigans do not cease.

  22. Deregistration, redelineation and anti-fake news law is an attack on everyone’s democratic choices and rights, and therefore every voter must prevent such things happening through the ballot box.
