Sarawak tells Perkasa to get lost

FMT Staff

All Sarawak BN component party leaders including Taib Mahmud’s PBB have slammed the doors on Perkasa and Ibrahim Ali

The Taib Mahmud administration does not want Perkasa anywhere in Sarawak.

A state minister and a member of Taib’s Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu’s (PBB) supreme council said Perkasa “is not welcome in Sarawak”.

Contentious Perkasa had recently disclosed that they hoped to “get the same kind of support from Sarawakians” as they did in Sabah. (more…)

TWO OF A KIND – Ibrahim Ali and Mahathir Mohamad

TWO OF A KIND - Ibrahim Ali and Mahathir MohamadMoaz Nair

Ibrahim Ali, the President of the xenophobic NGO named Perkasa and Mahathir Mohamad, the former Prime Minster (1981–2013) and are actually in the same boat when it comes to racial and religious rhetoric in politics. The two of a kind have many a time offended the non-Malays and disillusioned the Malays in the country with their political arrogance and blunt rhetoric.

It was widely reported in the international media that “Ibrahim Ali had called on Muslims to seize and burn copies of Bibles which contain the term ‘Allah’ or other Arabic religious words.”

Political observers opine that Ibrahim’s statement ‘is the most despicable statement, which is racist, highly inflammatory and seditious that a politician could ever make in a multi-racial society’. (more…)

Burn the Bible, and you burn the church

Priscilla Prasena

Pentecostal Churches of Malaysia representative Bishop Robert Judah Paul also expresses resentment against Perkasa chief’s Bible burning plan.

Perkasa’s plan to burn the Malay edition of the Bible, which carries the word “Allah” to refer to God, is equivalent to burning churches, the Pentecostal Churches of Malaysia representative Robert Judah Paul said today.

“Burning the Bible is equivalent to burning churches and the churches have every right to bring it to their highest authority. Churches which are linked to international non-governmental organisations will seek the international voices to air their grievances… and this would reflect badly on the country,” he told FMT in an interview. Listen, even frogs have problems!

Iskandar Dzulkarnain

It is sad that Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali’s harmless rants on the burning of Bibles have caused so much misunderstanding, says the writer in this satirical piece.

Since Barisan Nasional lost its two-thirds mandate in the general election, attacks and insults against Islam have increased dramatically. Luckily, we have Ibrahim Ali to come to the rescue like a gallant knight.

A true champion of the human race and religion, Ibrahim is a rare and dying breed. Not a single Malay possesses his inhuman courage or the strength to uphold an entire race or the nobility of the religion.

Everyone pales in comparison to the one and only Ibrahim, who is capable of changing the course of Malaysian history. (more…)

Prosecute Ibrahim Ali over bible-burning call, Bar Council urges

Syed Jaymal Zahiid

Authorities may opt to charge Ibrahim under the Sedition Act or Penal Code over the remarks, said Lim.

Perkasa chief Datuk Ibrahim Ali should be charged under the Sedition Act for his remarks advocating the burning of bibles, Bar Council president Lim Chee Wee said today, backing an similar call by an opposition lawmaker.

Lim said that although the Bar maintains the law deemed a political weapon to silence dissent, should be repealed, it must be impartially applied against Ibrahim given that authorities have charged opposition leaders under the same Act.

“If sedition charges were brought against Karpal Singh, equally charges should also be brought against Ibrahim Ali … Whilst the Bar calls for the repeal of the Sedition Act, if it were to be applied, it must be applied fairly and without discrimination. (more…)

Ibrahim Ali is doing the Barisan Nasional coalition a disservice with his May 13 remarks, says MCA vice-president Datuk Seri Chor Chee Heung (picture).

Malaysia will never again witness another bloody racial clash like the May 13 tragedy, Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Rakyat (PR) politicians gave an assurance today, finding common ground in their rejection of Datuk Ibrahim Ali’s latest tirade against the Chinese.

Despite acknowledging Ibrahim’s claim to be pro-BN, leaders from the ruling pact were quick to distance themselves from the Perkasa chief, whose latest rhetoric included a threat that May 13 could repeat if the Chinese grew more powerful. (more…)

Irene bashing by Perkasa shows how PARANOID & OUT OF IDEAS Umno is

Irene bashing by Perkasa shows how PARANOID & OUT OF IDEAS Umno is

Joe Fernandez

Perkasa, which in any other civilized nation would be ridiculed by decent society, has once again stepped forward in a hysterical defence of a political illusion long passed off as reality in Malaysia.

Hence, the public bashing that activist Irene Fernandez has to endure in Perkasa’s diarrhoea of words over a study linked to her, Washing the Tigers: Addressing Discrimination and Inequality in Malaysia.

Umno continues to remain in a state of denial that it can no longer be business as usual. Therein lies a death wish like that harboured by the Nazis until the very end in pursuit of their 1,000-year Reich or by the white minority apartheid regime in South Africa. (more…)

Ibrahim Ali and the Deathly Angpows

Ibrahim Ali, MP for Pasir Mas in Kelantan, and president of the small Malay supremacy movement Perkasa, cuts an unfamiliar figure for most Sarawakians.

This is not a bad thing, since this ‘umno-friendly’ independent MP is among the lowest political life forms in the Malayan jungle. He represents Umno’s political orifice, through which a steady stream of racist rhetoric pours out. His prime motivation is to keep Umno in power.

Amidst this effluent, you may recall a pattern of typically silly, far-fetched publicity stunts.

There was the pledge to wage ‘jihad’ on Christians, as part of a preposterous fantasy of a DAP-Christian plot to take over the country. (more…)
