11.59 am : 5 Bidayuh villagers from Tebedu arrested yesterday, now produced before Magidtrate at Kuching Central Police station for further remand.
The 5 villagers are Papai Ak Atin and Barak Ak Kolol from Kampung Temang Mura, Mani ak Marin and Karia Ak Daruh of Kampung Patah, and Peter Ak Laiong of Kampung Mawang.
Lawyers See Chee How and Desmond Kho represent the 5.
Also presence at the CPS are activists Nicholas Mujah, Niloh Ason and others

THE BIDAYUH VILLAGES TOOK THE RIGHT ACTION AND SET GOOD EXAMPLE!
Sarawak brothers and sisters- we have suffered 47 years of Taib PBB BN and UMNO colonial oppression and plunder of our country. For 47 years the people have bee robbed of their rich timber land. They have been made poorer en masse and life became worse than before our beautiful Sarawak was annexed by UMNO Malaya.
Year after year they lost their precious land. Now a group of Dayaks have taken the only means to stop the plunder.
It may appear “violent” with torching of the plunderers’ motor vehicles and machinery. But the poverty impose don them by the UMNO Malayan colonial government is also “violence”.
They are the ones who suffered most of all not plundering companies owned by Taib and his thieving gang of timber tycoon operating behind their companies.
The Lings, Tings, Tiongs are a minority of plunderers who have fattened themselves of our land while the majority of all races suffered. So it is not surprising a Ling comes out to defend the plunderers. One of them also sold out Sarawak to UMNO Malaya in 1963 and got even richer.
It is time for a revolutionary approach to saving ourselves from more colonial imposed sufferings and to take back our country.

Government have their own law. Sarawak is a law based country. This is the duty of a police. In utusan Borneo dated 9may 2011, the picture in the front page will cause foreigner to laugh at us. How can they take spears and knifes and protest? they will also not dare to invest in our country by seeing this situation. The burned vehicle is paid by who? Insurances? I think insurance will sue whoever burn the vehicles.

Yeah, insurance may ask you to pay instead for contravening the policies, intruding/trespassing into private property with an ill intention to destroy and steal.
Probably you have to read more in depth on what’s happening on the various enforcement units first before misjudging our fellow countrymen for the wrong doings. When a trespasser enters your house compound do you just allow him to carry your potted ‘bonsai’ away gracefully.
Let not our selfishness shrouding over our innocent and poor countrymen.

I simply cannot keep quiet when people make assumption and jumping into conclusion. Why assume Joseph Ling as BN cronies? I’m Half Chinese half Bidayuh too and I don’t let myself to be exploited but it is definitely sad when it is at many times our Bidayuh leaders exploit our own people.
But the funny thing is that, why still vote for them and let them exploit you? From the last election, the Bidayuhs are all behind BN. But the Chinese dare to stand for their rights and gave their votes to DAP instead of SUPP. So tell me who is BN cronies, us the Chinese.. or us the Bidayuhs.
Bak Kata pepatah Melayu, tepuk dada, tanya selera. Well, don’t victimised the innocent and for once the developers are bot the villain here. Touch your own heart and ask yourself earnestly and honestly – why is this unleashed anger on the innocent?

I regret to read your comments that we are misjudging our fellow countrymen for the wrong doings when our fellow countrymen had agreed and received compensation by the developers to develop their land. How can people just made blind claims and take law into their own hands when their own selfish personal interests are not quenched.
How can you claim that the developers were trepassing when they had written consent and agreement from the village headmen. If you are not happy, why burnt machineries belonging to innocent parties. Why don’t you corner your own folks who consented in the deal.
I sensed much sentiments about UMNO and Taib here.. the big players here. If you don’t have the guts to face them, please..please don’t take it on some small fries … but what have this innocent developers had to do with your uproar.
We are proud of Sarawak because we are cultural rich and peace loving. But taking up arms and burning properties not belonging to you is WRONG. Admit it. We are law-abiding Sarawakian. We uphold the Rukunegara. We are civilised and we have laws that protect us.
If you are unhappy, see the correct authorities, bang their tables and make your presence felt. Where is your MPs? If they are lazy, engage the opposition to kick their butts. This is a democratic country. Use your voice and not resort to violence. We are not orang Utan or some uncivilised race. We are Sarawakian. We are proud of our peaceful and beautiful culture and traditions.
We like the world to know that Sarawak is a safe place to invest and live. So let the police and authorities investigate and clean uyp this case. Do not instigate as this untold and selfish act will only destory the harmonic and courteous relationship of the Sarawak people.
NEVER TAKE THE LAW IN YOUR OWN HAND and act ruthlessly and blindly. No party will benefit here, everybody will stand to lose.
So for once, be smart and act smart.

Sound a very law abiding person. Sebangan case is an eye opener to both the government, the enforcement and the people.
How are you to justify your case when all the natural resources, machineries and robbers already moved out from your land upon depletion of the timber extractions. 2. How fortunate to have someone ignoring our poor and illiterate fellow kampong folks even help coaxing them into bind a contract without fully understanding of the ABC content. 3.Interesting to know whether the agreement that was signed between your so called developer and the village headmen had first been agreed upon by all the villagers in their full presence. Hopefully this isn’t another sold-out case again due greed and obligatory appointment.
All countries have their own solid foundation and framework of laws. How it is applied to deny citizens rights and privileges over ancestral property is something of importance and crucial to us all. All must therefore contribute some argumentative points and who knows we may derive an absolute answer to defend our native customary rights and privileges land. Otherwise we may go extinct/genocide one day if we are too sympathetic because of day-to-day an extra inch move.

the problem could be solved in easy way. but the company and the government dont care and continuously ignores the right of the bidayuh. when there is no other choice, its easy for anybody to blame the bidayuh. but dont hide behind law to abuse the bidayuh people. when foreigner learns of the government’s ignorance of the right of the natives, nobody is laughing. instead, they will condemn whoever makes the law and the ones who abuses the natives

So what next? Let UMNO/BN/Taib laws take it from there…..? Why stop burning he camp and machineries? Why spare the office, houses, car…all that belong the culprit!
