The Deputy Chief Minister supports Chief Minister Adenan Satem whose vision is the same as that of Sarawak Governor Abdul Taib Mahmud.

Deputy Chief Minister Alfred Jabu Anak Numpang has advised the Penan community to take a good look at themselves and take stock of where they were going.

He argued that those who taught the Penans to set up blockades and demand compensation from timber companies “were actually making the Penans lazy and dependent on the compensation”.

“If they want to support the opposition or NGO then the government cannot do anything for them because they only want to bring down the Barisan Nasional (BN),” he said at the Recreational Service Centre (RSC) in Ba Muboi, Selaan on Wed.

Jabu was expressing his regret on “the attitude” of the Penans in the Selunggo areas, in particular Long Sait, Long Kerong and Long Sepigen “who are still helping the NGOs”.

“They are being used as a tool to thwart the development efforts of the government,” Jabu alleged. “What is more disappointing is that they refuse to meet with me.”

The Penans should always be thankful and remember those who had helped them, such as traditional chiefs like Hassan Sui, he stressed. “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you”.

“The Penan community will not be abandoned by the BN,” assured Jabu. “The government has plans to help the Penans, wherever they are in the state, be it in Ulu Baram, Limbang, Layun or Selaan.”

In the Selaan area for example, there are plans to plant high quality rubber in Long Beruan, Long Peluan and Long Banga and build a secondary school in Long Bedian which has 450 students with 78 per cent of them being Penans from Ba Muboi, he pledged.

What is holding back the community are those who call themselves NGOs, reiterated Jabu, “and those who associate themselves with the opposition such as PKR who are instigating the Penans to go against the government”.

Jabu said that he has already declared his support for Chief Minister Adenan Satem whose vision is the same as that of Sarawak Governor Abdul Taib Mahmud.

“The two leaders will not neglect the communities in the interior of Sarawak especially the Penan and other Orang Ulu,” he promised.

  1. These three stooges vision for the Penans is…leave the junggle to the settlements and these three stooges will reap the wealth from the forest the Penans vacated!
jabu is a mad man to share his visions with those who do not care about the Penans/dayaks at all. But wait, jabu himself do not care about the penans/dayaks. He cares more for the chinese timber tycoons and probably the gangsters who works with them to chase and threaten those Penans/orang ulu/dayaks who chose to dwell in the junggle then to be controlled by jabu, adenan, taib and their timber cronies in settlements! Jabu just have to ask himself one simple question…after 50 years of bn rule, what is the economic statusof the dayaks compared to the chinese and malay melaynow? Why go into the Penan heartland to berate, shout and thteaten them when you forgot completely about them when their home land was not to be logged. Only when their forest were given away to their chinese cronies to log that taib, adenan and jabu begun to notice that the are some one called Penans living in the forest and junggle jabu, taib, adenan and bn didnt care about the penans before they started seeing money does grow on the Penan trees!

  2. It is not surprising more and more educated Dayaks, intellectuals and civil servants had been openly voicing their dissatisfaction against Dayak leaders in BN and the raw deals the community had received from the ruling government over the past 50 years.

Dayak NGOs and intellectuals who truly care for the plights of the community must go all out to educate their folks in the rural areas that they must stop exchanging their votes for basic amenities and the socio and economic developments they deserved as citizens and which the UMNO Baru controlled BN government had promised but failed to deliver for over 50 years. The uncaring and unfulfilled promises of BN only enriched the Dayak leaders and made them millionaires but not the Dayak community. NCR land and native rights have been constantly ignored and revoked by greedy politicians in BN.

Dayaks must not hesitate to vote for a total change of government in the State and in Putrajaya. There should be no more negotiation or bargaining for due attentions and long overdue developments.

Kick out UMNO Baru controlled BN in Sarawak.

    • PKR is too disorganized and greedy for more seats and PAS is inconsequential in Sarawak. DAP which track records speak for itself . It has been a strong oppostion to Sarawak BN long before PKR branched out to Sarawak. Dayak and Malay intellectuals who are commited to the future of Sarawak and for all Sarawakians should consider joining the DAP in Sarawak.

      • Bad call. They are an offshoot of supp and would change their tune to suit their own community once they gain power. Look at those dayaks in supp? What have they got besides making the numbers for them only?

  4. His only vision is looking up a kapayang tree! What development do the penans get when their hut and shelter is sawed to the ground; the trees and forest is their home, shelter and source of food. Hello ! When did Dato Hasan Sui feed the penans in selungo? He cheated his people In Suai, but feed the people in Selungo? What a joke. Jabu ‘ngigau” or “nyanuk” ? Even the Penans know you are lying so stop lying and hallucinating about ‘tool this, tool that, everybody tool’ !

  5. Alfred Jabu, as a minister, has more wealth than all the Dayaks in and outside Sarawak combined. How did that come about if he has been helping the Dayaks to progress and ripe the benefits of development in Sarawak since 1963 ?

Alfred Jabu has more than 20,000 hectares of plantation land and his companies were given infrastructure and construction projects worth few hundred million ringgit by the Sarawak government.

He has real estate investments in Australia and England. Some of his assets were held by his nephew Robert Chuat, an assistant minister. BMF should also reveal all the ill gotten wealth and assets owned by Jabu family in Malaysia and abroad. The Anglican Church in Sarawak has been receiving corrupted money through Jabu before each State and General elections to influence the Chirch members to continue to suppor thet corrupted policies of Umno Baru led BN in Sarawak.

    • No need for Jabu to worry about your comments. Come elections, he will carry all his powerful spiritual items and place them for a miring ceremony, then the ghosts of all devils will come out to help him again. He will only stand to face all his “account checking” at the final judgement day. Repent ASAP
